Now that you are 65, And more than ever know how to thrive, Lets look back on the years gone by, Of a great lady who is always high. (figuratively) When you were a girl, You were pudgy with curls, Happy go lucky, And not a care in the world. In your late teens, you got very lean And turned into a beauty queen. You were very popular with the girls and the guys And one day caught someone’s eyes. Out on a date with Gibby’s bro, You bumped into Herky at Old Miss Mo… Love at first sight it may be, A trip to New York was planned instantly. There were a few dates that followed, while Ernie was abroad, And finally Shirley gave you the Nod…(sort of) 8 years later you were 29, With 3 kids a dog and a life, sublime. We had many great trips and wonderful times, Too many to count within this rhyme. Wonderful childhoods you provided us all, With love and support beyond the call, And as we grew you have always been there, Taking an interest about all that we care. You were always grateful for everything you had, And showed us the meaning of being glad. You are a true matriarch, who showed us how to be strong, Especially when tragedy struck and your beloved Rabbit passed on. The years that followed were so difficult to bare, But to every one’s expectation you managed to hang in there. And now it’s so great to see you sooo happy again With such a great mate in Maurie Bergman. Just so your head doesn’t swell, Thought I’d remind you things didn’t always go well. Like your driving skills which were exposed, When you backed out of the garage with the door still closed. Another time with your purse on the roof, You went for a spin apparently aloof, The purse fell, on-to the street, But an old jewish man found it on fleet. Still driving around but with much more care With interests abound and not much time to spare. Kabala and Curves are the new passion, But you always make time for our little Justin. You’ve been an great daughter, mother, granny, friend and wife. |
